new series: shinrin-yoku

I haven’t had a real break from work since last fall when I was in New Mexico. Getting away for a few days last month was just what I needed. The drive down Highway 101 is one of my favourites. I still haven’t done the whole highway but I did add a few more miles visiting new places and returning to old favourites. Let’s just say this will be known as the burgers and ice cream trip along with the two times I narrowly escaped death. No hyperbole there.

One of the best parts of this trip was visiting The Avenue of the Giants. It is a 32-mile stretch of old highway that runs parallel to Highway 101. I could describe it to you but I’ll let the photographs speak for themselves. You can find my latest gallery here.

Sabrina…Great images, amazing large chuncks of wood. Come May/June we’re heading to Coring, CA to replenish our olive oil and balsamic vinegar stocks for the next year then heading to the coast and taking our time heading North. Oh, and Gayle would like to take a month or so to explore more of Utah and maybe another month exploring Idaho, dipping into Northern Montana.

    Keep Exploring……………….

Thanks Don. Maybe we will meet up somewhere in Montana this summer! I am curious about the olive oil and balsamic vinegar run. Those are road trip essentials for me 🙂

Sounds like a great get-away…except for the part about narrowly escaping death twice! 😮 Lovely gallery of old growth photos.

It was a good trip, Earl. I could have spent a week in those groves and still had more to photograph!

I miss spelled the name of the city…It’s Corning, CA.

It’s in Northern CA. We’ll go west from there thru the Clear Lake area, my mom and dad traveled thru there when they were Motor Homing and said it was beautiful.

Keep us informed on your schedule and we’ll try and make a meet up happen. 🙂
