This weekend I finally got my hands on a lens I’ve been hoping to own for some time now. The Olympus 9-18mm. On my OM-D EM-5 that is the closet to my favourite Nikon lens, the 17-35mm. I took the new (previously loved) lens for a spin during a weekend visit to Port Townsend and it felt like I found my missing glasses. Do you have a favourite lens that helps reveal the world the way you see it?

  1. Yep, a fixed Fujinon 23mm. That’s approx. 35mm on a cropped sensor….

    ;)

I also really like the 50mm focal length. (35mm on a cropped sensor)

  2. Feels very Edward Hopper :)

And yeah… I leave in 10 days and am pretty much out of my mind. lol.

  3. In last few month, I totally discovered what my favorite lens is and what my least favorite lens is, as well. Long story short, I am in the process of changing my dx-lenses to fx-lenses (Nikon) , which means I sold all dx-lenses, and need to rebuild the collection. I started with 50 mm, and life got in a way, so it is all I have for now. I hate it, it is too wide for my “style”, and I tend to come too close to things and the lens just won’t focus. I cannot wait until I get a macro lens back in my hands! Maybe next week?

    • I remember when I decided move to the FX lenses and I started with the 50mm as well. Now I pretty much have the whole suite although I recently sold my 70-200mm because it was collecting dust. The only macro lens is a 50 mm I inherited from my father but I haven’t used it in a very long time either. I should pull it out and have some fun with it. Thanks for the reminder!
