photo of the day: mars bar bus
To say that I’ve been enjoying the Night Market project this summer is probably an understatement. The mentor pointed out to me last week that I am sufficiently distracted by the food opportunities that I am not over-thinking while photographing. Apparently this is resulting in some good photographs. Apparently. While there may be some truth to that observation, there is one aspect I am struggling with and that is photographing the market while it is still daylight. I still can’t quite get my head around what to photograph and how to photograph it so that it fits into the story. Good thing I have two more months to figure it out, replete with food temptations

So far I’m liking both your food choices and your photographs.
I have to ask . . . did you try a deep fried Mars Bar? I suspect they are better in theory. I am so looking forward to seeing this project when it’s completed. But for now, the journey seems to be quite rewarding.
For some reason, there is always a line-up at the bus! I haven’t tried a deep fried Mars Bar yet but I shared a table with someone who did buy one and she said it was good. Her son had the deep fried cheesecake and I have to tell you that looked much more tasty. In fact they were arguing because she kept on digging into his cheesecake while her husband was busy eating her mars bar.
If the project doesn’t amount to much, at least I will have thoroughly enjoyed myself in the process
Is it the project that makes it less enjoyable? Sometimes I feel if I am shooting ‘for something’ the images are less natural/spontaneous and lose connection. If I am ‘just’ enjoying myself, then they seem to flow more naturally and the project stuff happens after.
You do have a point Deborah, I think I am trying too hard to figure out what fits before photographing instead of just going with the flow. Even though it is a struggle, I am having a good time. I’ll go out this weekend and just photograph and see what stuff happens! Thanks for dropping by
