the missing canvas

Two years after returning from my African safari, my sister requested a large canvas for a big wall space. Finally a piece of my work that would hang in her beautifully decorated home or perhaps even her office at work. I ordered a 32 x 48 canvas but it went missing and wasn’t delivered to me. I started to wonder about my image hanging on someone’s wall and wished it had been a different image. That got me thinking that I should really do a giveaway as I haven’t done one in a while but I wanted to do something with a twist. So here’s the deal…

Put a link to your image in the Comments section below and I’ll do a random draw for a C$200 gift certificate towards a purchase from CanvasPop. There is a catch however, you must gift the canvas to someone else. Maybe for Valentine’s Day? Wait there’s more. When I mentioned my contest to the folks at CanvasPop here in Canada, they loved the idea of “paying it forward” and offered a second prize–a 16×20 canvas valued at $80 ($14 flat-rate shipping not included). Anyone can enter but the canvases can only be shipped with the US and Canada. CanvasPop has also set up a contest page on Facebook where you can post a link to your entry and all entrants will receive a $30 gift voucher towards the purchase of a canvas. The contest will end 11:59 PM PDT on February 10, 2012 so get your entries in as soon as possible!

    Lovely image. Space and peace.

I won’t be eligible for the prize, but thought you might like to see this one anyway. lotuseater18.wordpress.com The image with the lotus shaped candles burning. When I have my printer working and finished the printing e-book, calibrating etc this is one I want to print for a meditation space.

    Hi there,
I’d love to submit a photo, but I don’t have a web-site. Is there some way I can send it to you?

I would love to get this picture printed on Canvas! I’d give it to my wonderful roommate Greg, as he’s been the most rational, understanding, and reasonable friend I’ve ever had. He knows that I can barely afford to live, and he always covers my back when finances get tight. I’d love to give this to him as a token of my gratitude!

What a fantastic idea and such a generous one. I know I’m not eligible but I’ve just put these images of the hounds in my print folder – I’d give them to their breeder who loves to see them still.

I would give this [ http://500px.com/photo/3290938 ] to my best friend, who is a mechanic, to hang in his newly refinished customer lobby. He has had a life-long passion for old European sports cars.

Great idea! I’d like to give the photo to a friend back in the U.S. who used to work with me here in Hanoi, Vietnam. Thank you.

Not sure who would get it yet but I’m sure I can find someone that would want it.

Well as long as one has friends in the US or Canada one is eligible even if one lives in Norway, right?

This is the image I would like to give away:

Don’t worry Eli, if you win there is a lot of people in the US and Canada more than willing to take any of your photos!

This is such a wonderful contest Sabrina! I’m loving all the images! :)

Wow, when you said you had an idea, you weren’t kidding Sabrina! This is such a nice thought and I assume a reflection of your kind nature. Please stop and detour in Australia when you visit China!

This is surely not one of my best images. But to the person I would like to give it to, it is home. He was a mentor for me here in Australia. They moved to the US exactly 1 year ago.

(PS what happened to your canvas!? It’s gorgeous. Sad to think it’s with somebody else – could never sign for something that’s not mine)

    Sabrina,

I really admire how you have turned a difficult situation into such a beautiful gesture. There is always something amazing about getting others involved in creating and increasing happiness and appreciation in the world.

I thought long and hard about this and if I win I would like to give this image to my friend Marc. He is a fantastic photographer and doesn’t hang his art in his house but he has expressed how much he likes my image of a boat on the beach in Mexico that I made several years ago. Marc is the most authentically nice person I’ve ever met, he developed a Flickr group to support and connect photographers in Albuquerque and Santa Fe and continually supports and encourages local photogs to get together and develop community asking and expecting nothing in return for himself. I would gift him this canvas; he has not only inspired me as a photographer but also as a human being.

    Thanks for this opportunity,

My mother also has a large bare wall desperately needing a canvas on it. I am sure she would enjoy my submission on her wall.

I would prefer to get a canvas of your print, but if I must provide a link of the photo I want to put on canvas for my fiance … here it is. It’s a photo I took from a recent photo walk we went on … https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/4OPWdzGjvmISLc3WfT4VOLv39CEVtSOy5U56fVD2BUM?feat=directlink
