photo of the day – on the lake

As you know I’ve been shooting with an Olympus EP-2 camera these days and in fact, it was the only camera I took on my trip down to the Finger Lakes area of New York state a couple of weekends ago. I am really impressed with this little camera and I shall miss it as it makes its way to Morocco with my friends Younes Bounhar and Amanda Large. (Please congratulate them on their nuptials this past weekend!) You might wonder why I let the little guy out of my hands. Well besides the fact that I like Younes and Amanda, I wanted to give them a chance to travel with the camera and see what they came home with in a few weeks time. It is very portable and quite discrete in heavily populated places and I think that allows the photographer to get images they might otherwise have missed. Younes has promised to do a little bit of a summary on my blog and to showcase a few of the images he will take with the Pen so stay tuned.

This image was processed on my iPad using the Snapseed app. Making images these days is so easy with all the technology available to us. At the end of the day though, there has to be something of me in the image for it to be something more than just a record of being somewhere (although there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that either). I think anyone who knows me well can see me in this image.

Wonderful shot with the fall leaves and dramatic clouds.

Very dramatic processing! The trees about to fall in adds to the drama I think. Hope the camera will enjoy the trip :-)

I see you and your thoughtfulness in the photo and I saw you taking it too! The clouds are very dramatic.

I love HDR’s they always make things look so much better.

On a serious note: Snapseed is my go-to app for post processing on the iPad and iPhone. $5 goes a long way with it.

I love this photograph for it’s cinematic characteristics. The storm brewing in the sky and the wide landscape with the house as a focal point. I’ve recently downloaded Snapseed onto my iphone and enjoying playing around with it, it’s a great way to keep your photography up without having to lug around masses of gear.

A very dramatic image – I can see strong stories in it. For me it talks about aging, decay, loss … all the poetic metaphors for aging are there – autumn, old house (desaturated to give even older feel) , dark clouds giving a forboding feel of destruction…

    Wow!
