photo of the day – out to sea

Last weekend I had the pleasure of spending the day with Ellie Ericson at Steveston. I first met Ellie earlier this year before she traveled to Kenya on her first photographic safari. She was looking to borrow a bean bag and you know that’s how friendships between photographers begin–sharing our gear and accessories. Fast forward and a few weeks after spending some really quality time with Ellie at ART, we find ourselves together doing what we both love. Photography.

I have photographed this boat a few times but always from the other side of the window. It has always made a terrible photograph. On Saturday though we happened to be in the right place at the right time because the building doors were wide open and we could venture inside. This is a great example of visiting a place again even though you’ve already photographed there before. You never know what images can be made the next time you visit.

Am loving your recent images here and on mini-me – can see that your personality is starting to shine through. Thanks for introducing me to another wonderful photographer.

Love it. The simplicity of the image and that filtered light resonates with a heap of nostalgia. I gotta admit you got me all excited with the title of this post in my feed reader though – I was all “Ray got her on a boat!”

So it all started with a bean bag, eh? ;)

As always, your images give me a sense of calm. This one does too for some reason. Maybe it’s the lighting.

Getting a different point of view can always change perspective. It’s one way we can approach a #closetohome project when shooting the “same old, same old”.

Haha! I forget that it all started with a bean bag :) Cuz really, I remember that it all started with Mary Jensen telling me about you…and then the rest is history for me once I contacted you. So glad we met.

Saturday was so nice to hang out and photograph – and I LOVE the shot you got. I agree with everyone else, the simplicity is stunning – and it brings me back to those lovely summer days on the west coast in Sweden as a child – rustic beauty. Thanks for bringing those memories back!
