This is one of my favourite images from Bryce Canyon although I’m not exactly sure why. I think it’s because the shapes and shadows seem to hide a story that only they know. That makes me excited and anxious at the same time. It’s kind of like a secret that you’d love to know but once you know it, the mystery disappears. I think this feeling can only be achieved in the black and white version of this image. In red and orange, it just seems to shout but here there is a quiet, gracefulness. Almost like praying hands.

This is a lovely image Sabrina. In places like this I can feel the reasons tribal people created stories of gods and demons.
Thanks Deborah. It really does take your breath away when one contemplates beyond just what you see before you and think about all that history. At least that is how it was for me. We had a chance to see some very early art and I hope to share it with you maybe next week.
Interesting. Without the color, I would never have guessed that this is Bryce. I can’t even tell for sure that it’s stone. It looks more like an eroding bank of clay and gravel. I like it a lot. (I like eroding banks of clay and gravel).
I like that you wouldn’t have guessed the location, Franz. It means I was at least successful in retaining some sense of the mystery I felt when I saw it.
Sabrina, this one draws me back into the dark shadows and makes me want to know what’s back there…yes, mystery — setting my imagination free. Just enough dim detail in the shadows — I like it too.
Thanks Earl. Have you visited Bryce before? I think you would enjoy photographing there too.
Interesting photo, Sabrina. It almost looks like underwater coral formations. And I see the praying hands now that you’ve pointed them out.
