This weekend I’m heading south across the border to spend some quality time with my friend and mentor, Ray Ketcham. We’ve been planning this meetup since our August session in La Connor and we have a full schedule that will hopefully result in some new work and perhaps a project for both of us. Even if it doesn’t, I know I will benefit from spending one-on-one time with Ray; I always do even when it’s just over the telephone. One of the highlights of the weekend is sure to be the Port Townsend Kinetic Sculpture Race. Today’s photo is of a sculpture in New York City and is made with a technique I like to use. Can you guess what it is?
P.S. OK here’s the scoop on this image. It’s a reflective metal sculpture down near Ground Zero. I used the multiple exposure feature on my camera and for each of the exposures I used a different focal length. I often use this feature together with panning or painting for more abstract images.

Jealous. Have fun.
Have fun!!! Call if you need bail money.

You know me so well
Kinetic sculpture race… sounds intriguing. Have fun you two!
Your photo above looks like a bunch of shiny balloons to me, but I really can’t place it. What is it?
Is it the fountain sculpture down by the new World Trade Center construction?
Yes Richard! That’s the sculpture. Do you know it? If so, maybe you can figure out what I did here…
love this image, …looking forward to learning how you did it!
It looks like you have a great reflection going on here. My first thought was that the buildings are reflecting in glass balls (or balloons) and then in the window, but as a second thought – baloons are behind that window. Or?
Great shot, anyway!
I definitely need to get back to NYC. For a gal who loves b/w, your color images are killing me! I really love this image.
