Yesterday I posted images to mark the 9th anniversary of 9-11. I was moved to be in New York City on this solemn occasion but there were other stories we were photographing while we were there. The image above was photographed from a real photojournalist perspective. We were in an area termed the “press box” which was set aside in front of this protester to keep the crowds under control. There were hoards of photographers as well as people who had gathered to hear the speaker. Definitely a grab shot as I stood on my tiptoes but one that I believe has all the quintessentials of the story. The sign describing the protest, an American flag, two New York City cops in the crowd, and New York City in the background. I’ve been struggling with my exposures lately so I was very pleased to see that this image was properly exposed and no cropping was needed. Below are some images to reflect the other stories of the day.

Wow. Incredible images. Well done, Sabrina. Well done.
Thanks Mark. Somehow time spent with Bryan Peterson always raises my game. For anyone thinking about his New York workshops, he plans on announcing his 2011 dates in the next couple of weeks (usually first on Facebook).
Wow this and the last post are fantastic work on NY. I’ll echo Mark, Well done.
[...] This post was mentioned on Twitter by Ray Ketcham, Mark Krajnak and others. Mark Krajnak said: So glad I profiled this #tog today. @SabrinaHenry New blog post is up "9-11: The Other Stories"http://bit.ly/bwpjuQ > Great work, Sabrina. [...]
Wonderful job Sabrina! Captured all that was happening around the ceremony.
Great work Sabrina!! I love these images – they capture what is happening and the emotions connected to the story
That must have been cool to be there at this time. Nice images.
Another fine post. Ya know we are starting to expect more each time we come here.
I also read Marks post introducing you to more people, which I hope happens for you. You are gifted and not just photographically. What you present on your blog, in your photos and your writing, is a part of you. As Ray says, “a unique voice is individual and not something that can be duplicated.” Thanks for sharing your voice.
Thanks for your comments, everyone. I really do appreciate them especially when the work is so emotional and I find it difficult to separate myself from it.
Monte, you’re embarrassing me! I shall have to do a post to show my feet of clay, as Ray would say. I did enjoy being on Mark Krajnak’s blog though…I love his work and several months ago I persuaded him to do a guest post here. It should be up some time this week so please check back.
That’s great I’ll be looking for his post on here.
It must have been stirring being there. You’ve captured the feeling really well here, I can almost imagine it myself, halfway around the world.
Great stuff Sabrina! Think I agree with Monty about expecting more everytime I get here
