It’s a holiday Monday here in my part of the world but it doesn’t feel like it at all. I had planned a leisurely fun post for earlier today and now it’s afternoon and I still have a million things I’d like to do. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not complaining. I’m just sharing how wonderfully full and rich your life can be when you are pursuing your passion. I’m grateful for days like this for they pull me through the days when I’m not fully engaged in photography. The clincher is that I haven’t picked up my camera at all today and still it’s been a satisfying day so far. When you wake up in the morning and start connecting with the people and all the things that are a huge part of your passion, there’s nothing like it. So first a big thank you to David W., Dave T., Mary, Krista, Maureen, Mark O., Ray, Michelle, David D., Charlene, and anyone else I haven’t mentioned here. Just hearing from you and knowing what you’re up to in our world motivates and even more, inspires me to do better and be better.
Congratulations to Mark O. for three of his images being selected for exhibit at the Plastic Fantastic Show in Oregon. If you haven’t checked out Mark’s work yet, you can find it here. My personal favourites are “Tulip Sun” and “Graffiti in Moss” both of which were selected.
More kudos to Maureen whose work has not only been selected for exhibit but also for posters advertising Festival X at the Ottawa Art Gallery. She and her cohorts in the Dante Was Here Group are also having an exhibit in June and July in Ottawa. I hope I can make it there to see it all.
My safari roomie Krista just let me know she’ll be here in September shooting a wedding up at Whistler. Here’s the kicker–she’s asked me to join her. I don’t care if I am schlepping her bags over rocks and or sitting in an icy lake, I’m so there. If you think I’m kidding about the icy lake, check out her recent work in Mexico.
Ray is having a day of rest in between days shooting an ambitious project in his neck of the woods. I’ve seen an image from last week and I just know it will be fabulous. Ray has something you can’t bottle and sell. He sees with his heart as much as with his eyes and maybe even more so. It’s one of the many things I so admire about his work.
This week I’m meeting with David W., Dave T., and Mary–my Vancouver photography group for our usual review of work over what will be a lovely dinner (it always is) hosted by David W. These photographers keep me grounded and encouraged at the same time and without them, I wouldn’t be able to do half the things I do. In the very near future I’m hoping to be able to share something with you that we’d like to do together early next year.
A special thank you to my friend Tony for the images today. He’s always picking out great restaurants to try out and he indulged me yesterday when we went for brunch by letting me take photographs while we were at Acme Cafe. I must be quite unbearable always having a camera in hand but no-one hoes this road alone without the support of friends and partners in crime.
And last but never least, thank you to David D. I not only have the privilege to work with him but also the pleasure today to preview his soon to be released eBook “Venice: A Monograph. The Print and the Process Series“. More than any of his other books, it will make you feel what this passion can be for you. It is a moving piece of work and the images he shares are so strong. I only wish you didn’t have to wait so long before you can read it.
So much for the lighthearted post for today. It will keep for another day but here’s one final link I’d like to leave with you. If you are a creative, it’s a video on motivation that you will appreciate. Happy Monday–what’s left of it

Thanks for the mention, Sabrina! I love hearing about your photo adventures.
Mark
You’re welcome Mark. I’m so happy for you!
And thank you for indulging me reading about my adventures. Now that I read it over, it was a really casual post. I have to find another word for “so”!
Have fun with Krista in September. Sounds great!!!
Wish you were here Beate but there will be other opportunities because we will MAKE it happen! Miss ya!

Yeah, yeah… all that photo stuff sounds wonderful, but let’s get to the important stuff. Where do I get eggs like that?!!! Those look amazing. The toast looks a bit well-done, and I have no clue how one would use quartered strawberries with eggs… but those eggs look really, really good. Yum. I think I know what I’m making for breakfast tomorrow!
Now there’s a man who knows what’s important. Omelette with free-range eggs, mushroom, and goat cheese. I skipped the sun-dried tomatoes as they’re not my favourite and someone did forget the toast but it was still good.
I’m going back for pie next time! They said if I was good I could come back
Thanks for the extra kind words Sabrina. The images are starting to come together for this project and I should be posting on the blog about it soon.
I guess if I ever really want something really good to eat I just follow you or Jeffery around
.
Well I’m following Jeffrey for sure. I miss his FB updates from Italy.
Thank goodness Mark posted “pie” today on his blog

Sabrina! Did you eat brunch at the Acme Cafe on Monday? So did i! Small world. What time were you there? Great place. The apple pie is UNBELIEVABLE.
It was Sunday unfortunately. I agree; it’s a great little place. The funny thing was the owner came up to our table and asked me if I was a blogger. We didn’t have time for pie but he said I can come back if I’m good.
Sabrina,
So, wait a second… is this an offer to shoot the wedding wearing a swimsuit, in case I need you to jump in the lake for a good angle of the couple at water level? YES! I knew you’d be a good one to have around. Seriously though, can’t wait to shoot with you.
xo
K
Krista…I didn’t realize I’d have a choice of a swimsuit. I thought it would be while fully clothed! Even better…counting the days.
Just colour me jealous! A chance to shoot together – good stuff!
Thanks for the mention Sabrina! Too bad the Festival X website is not current. It is a two week photo festival in Ottawa held every second with many galleries participating as well as the city ones.
Those eggs look dee-licious!
Wish you could join us Maureen but if I’m not mistaken you’re doing a trip, right?
Let me know when the Festival X website has been updated with your images and I’ll make sure I connect readers to it.
The trip is actually 7-10 sept so it might be cutting it close (but you never know
. We just bike for the days after labour day. I will keep you in the loop for Festival X
