The day is finally here and I am on my way to what promises to be a magical trip. I had a number of things I wanted to do before I left but ran out of time as usual–side effects of being a procrastinator I’m afraid. Confessions first. I did not get to the Van Dusen Gardens this month for my final monthly shoot of the year despite the number of times I drove past. Part of the reason I think is that for the past month, I’ve been thinking about what my project will be for the next twelve months so in a way I felt as though I already done with the VDG assignment. I should be able to share what I’ve decided to do before the month is out. Also I wanted to do a post on our visit to the Richmond Cat Shelter but that will also have to wait as I have removed those files from my laptop in preparation for my trip.
This rather grainy image today was taken with my G9 at high ISO because of the low light where I’m sitting at the moment. Readers of the former incarnation of my blog will know that the Kiboko bag has been on my wishlist since Andy Biggs launched it and I am so pleased that I’m now the proud owner of one of my own. (If I’m not mistaken, Kiboko means hippo in Swahili.) I haven’t used it yet but I have to say that just packing it up with all my camera gear was a real joy. It is so easy to get your gear in there and the space is flexible for whatever you decide to bring with you. If I wasn’t limited to only 8kg for my carry-on luggage, I’d fit a whole lot more in there. At least once I am on safari, I’ll be able to have all my gear with me instead of the multiple bags or compromises I had to make before with my much smaller Lowepro.
I apologize for this rather hurried post but I am heading to the gate now but not before I wish everyone a Happy New Year. I’ll post when I can over the next three weeks and definitely when I return from a trip of lifetime.

Have fun Sabrina, I really wish I was along for this one. Enjoy what I hope the weather will be and the rest of us will hold down the NW fort for you until you get home safe.
Post when you can, as the curiosity will be killing us.
Safe travels and good light, Sabrina!
