141 posts and one year later, I am celebrating the first anniversary of my blog! When I first started out on this adventure it was just to share my photos with family and friends. Somewhere along the way it morphed into what it is today–a blog about my journey to learn photography. Hopefully it’s been informative and you’ve enjoyed my photographs as much as I’ve loved writing about the things I’m learning and creating the images I’ve posted.

Last year I had an assessment that determined my learning preferences which concluded that I learn mainly through individual analysis and reflection. So reading about techniques and thinking about how I might apply them is a very natural approach for me. For more complete learning, the assessment pointed out that I need to do more practical work and to do it by engaging others. This is why my blog has become an important ingredient in my learning the craft of photography. Not only has it given me an outlet to share my work, it has also provided a structure to keep me shooting and moving forward.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have helped and encouraged me throughout the year–you know who you are. Without your care and support I would not have made this far. For those of you who are learning along with me, I’d like to leave you with some wisdom from a Twitter friend of mine, Jeffrey ChapmanThere is no X on a map to let you know you’ve arrived. The journey is the destination, and you’re already there.”

Thanks Craig! Hope I was able to capture the feeling of how it tasted.

Hasn't it been a blast, Sue? I'm so glad you've been there with me every step of the way. Thanks!

Simon, do spill! I can't wait to see your photos and be a witness to your journey.

    Sabrina,

It is incredibly kind of you to mention me. I think that we're all in this together. Our goals may differ, and both our paths and destinations will differ, but in many ways we can all share our journeys.

However, I'm not at all convinced by green coffee. I think perhaps that should remain a speciality of Vancouver – as inviting as your photo of it is.

    Many thanks,
    Jeffrey
