It was an early start this morning to do the annual Van Dusen Private Gardens Tour; nine gardens on the list but five that we definitely wanted to see. The photo of the day goes to the Shepherd Garden on Somerset Crescent. There was nothing–absolutely nothing–I would change about this garden. From the boxwood lined beds that graced the front of the house to the purple and white colour scheme courtesy of peonies and alliums. At the rear, a previously unknown hidden pit resurrected into a lovely water feature under the overgrown trees along with penny pavers and original stepping stones circa 1925. I’ve said it before but that old saying still rings true: when Heaven falls to Earth, it becomes a garden.
