A couple of months ago my brother-in-law and I combined our resources to buy the Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens for our Nikons. It wasn’t until our trip to Japan that I realized how much fun this lens could be. Then last weekend I did a little bit of reading on lenses and what happens at various focal lengths. Normally when I get into this kind technical information, I get glassy-eyed and drift off as all the words start to roll together. Not this time. I actually found it interesting and began to understand the importance of lens choice in composition.
Using a wide angle lens to capture the image above has resulted in increased perspective. This gives a two-dimensional photograph not only a feeling of depth but it adds visual tension which according to Freeman Patterson, is one of two things that is present in all good pictures.

Another sweet shot Sabrina! I love my wide angle! Next up… fisheye!
