It seems we have another aspiring photographer in the family–my sister. Recently she received her very own copy of Bryan Peterson’s Understanding Exposure from yours truly because I refused to share my signed copy with her. An avid gardener, she sent me the photo above from her spring garden with a note to say hi to the hellebores. Pretty amazing for a beginner, eh? I rendered it in black and white after I threw it into Photoshop. Black and white images have always been a favourite of mine maybe because many of my father’s photographs were taken before colour photography became popular. Somehow they speak to me in a way colour images cannot, almost as if they are in a completely different language.
Donald Cameron is a photographer who knows this language. I recently learned about his work through Twitter when we started following each other. His work was featured on the blog site for ReflexStock.com in a rather nifty list called “10 Reasons to Love Monophotography“. Many people post lists on their blog but this list is just photographs. Ten photographs by Donald Cameron to be exact. I love it!

very pretty!
Thanks Brooke…I’ll pass on your comments to my sister, the photographer.
