getting to know you

Getting to know you,
Getting to know all about you.
Getting to like you,
Getting to hope you like me.

Getting to know you,
Putting it my way, But nicely,
You are precisely,
My cup of tea.

Some random events came together today and I think they are all connected. Let me see if I can explain this so it makes as much sense to you as it seems to me. So the lyrics are from the musical “The King and I” which is set in Thailand (Siam) where I’ve been thinking of visiting on my way to Japan next month. I twittered on Sunday about my deliberations and David @pixelatedimage piped up that I should do it and while there, look up Gavin Gough. David is quite a connected photographer who 10 hours ago declared that he had finally got his brain around the Twitter thing and then 5 hours later posted a link to Taylor Davidson’s blog posting on why photogs should use Twitter.

Yesterday Rahul Parthak started following me on Twitter. I had no clue who he was or why the heck he’d want to follow little ol’ me. His Twitter bio states that he is the Founder and CEO of LookStat which is a web service that enables you to track online sales by image at multiple sites. I don’t have any images for sale but today I started a new PPSOP course on Maximum Profits from the Microstock World. Coincidence? I’m not sure I believe in coincidence but if it were at play, then it might be the reason why Rahul Parthak also was mentioned on Taylor Davidson’s blog posting. So too were David and Gavin who incidently were both on Andrew Gibson’s List of Top 10 blogs.

David’s blog is one thing I read religiously–not in a creepy stalking kind of way but because it is so rich with great content. I agree with Andrew Gibson’s rating 100% having learned so much from David’s postings. In fact, this week I started reading them from the very beginning and it has been revealing to see how his work has attracted a growing number of followers. If you read today’s posting, he talks about his strategy for generating traffic to his website. There are ten great tips including investigating Web 2.0 phenomena like Twitter. While my blog doesn’t yet have content like David’s, I feel my profile is growing and people are getting to know me. Maybe they’ll even like me and want to follow my journey to become a photographer–if that’s their cup of tea.
