I received an email today confirming my application to attend Freeman Patterson and Andre Gallant’s September workshop in St. Martin’s, New Brunswick. There are only 36 spots at this location and in total only 60 spots that represent a chance to learn from this Canadian icon. A recipient of the Order of Canada, Freeman Patterson has spent a lifetime pursing his personal artistic interests including photography. He lives at his property on Shamper’s Bluff which he has donated to the conservancy for an ecological reserve and education area in return for life tenancy. You can read more about him here.

After learning that Pete Souza had been selected as the official photographer of the Obama presidency, I dropped by his website to order an autographed copy of his book “The Rise of Barack Obama”. Today I received an email from him via his iPhone asking me to check back in a few weeks. I should have known he’d be busy after all it’s Inauguration Day tomorrow!

There are two new books on the shelf this week Camera Raw for Digital Photographers Only and Camera RAW with Adobe Photoshop CS4. It will take me a while to get through them as I am quite busy these days but I took a quick look and there is a wealth of information between those covers.

I’ve added the Pixelated Image to my blog roll. David duChemin is a Vancouver-based freelance humanitarian and travel photographer. He describes himself as a person who “wants to use his powers for good (and not for evil)…to save the world and be a resource to others that would do the same”. Right now he is on a one month trip around the world. Check out his blog and download his monthly desktop calendar.

Daily Dose of Imagery is now on my list of links. This is a neat photoblog with a new image posted every day. You’ll also see a link to Chromasia. This is the website for our HDR instructor, David Nightingale. There are some great images there plus you can subscribe to online tutorials.
That’s all for now!
