sitting ducks

There was a brief reprieve from the fog today. By the time I made it to Steveston, it was clear the fog was back to stay but I decided to stick around anyway. A flock of ducks flew over the boardwalk so I followed them, landing up at a nearby pond. They had come to rest for the evening on several logs which made me think of the term “sitting duck”. Here is a visual interpretation of that expression
